Kulth is horse gram — a hardy pulse that grows where more delicate crops won't.

Cooked long and slow it thickens into a deep, savoury dal traditionally eaten in winter.

Said plainly: this is a strong-flavoured dal. It isn't a substitute for toor or moong.

A room that has never been empty.

Kothar is named after a room in Sungri Heights, Shimla. Our founder Amit Palsra's grandparents have kept it full for over forty years — his grandmother still fills it every summer.

Everything on this shelf comes from that habit: growing, drying and storing what the season gives, and sending on whatever there's enough of.
